Hospital Courtyard

Entry for a 24-hour design competition for the re-design of a hospital courtyard. Our project seeks to create a diversity of spaces at varying scales and of different character that allow patients of the hospital to have respite from the daily stresses of recovery through immersion in a saturated “natural” condition. The small park we’ve created at once segregates itself from the parking lot immediately adjacent to it, and creates a dramatic processional gateway to the cafeteria, an emphatic gesture that gives quality to the previously banal space.
